About the Role

The rapid growth of our engineering teams requires a stronger Infrastructure function to ensure it is an enabler — not a bottleneck — for company-wide technical and business objectives.
We are opening a Staff Infra Engineer role. This is a build-first role with real ownership, real impact, and zero legacy constraints. This role is not about maintaining the status quo or closing routine Jira tickets. It’s about building the foundations of a new, high-performance platform

We operate under strict regulatory and audit requirements. Every technical decision is strategic, auditable, and business-critical. Infrastructure at Solidgate is not support — it is core to the company’s ability to operate and scale

Tech Stack 

Cloud & Infrastructure

• We run a cloud-first infrastructure, almost entirely on AWS

• 100% Infrastructure as Code using Terraform

Compute & Runtime

• Our services run on ECS Fargate, enabling: high availability and fault tolerance, elastic scaling under load, and efficient resource utilisation with minimal operational overhead

Data Layer

• Primary storage is RDS/Aurora PostgreSQL, engineered for high-throughput workloads and horizontal and vertical scalability

We use a polyglot stack to choose the right tool for each problem: Golang, Kotlin, Node.js, Python, TypeScript.

• GitOps-first approach with a clear path toward full automation

• Fully automated CI/CD to production, supporting 1,500+ deployments per month without sacrificing stability or control

• Large-scale data footprint: ~100 databases, some exceeding 5+ TB, with tens of billions of transactional and operational records

• Massive observability scale: processing ~1.5 TB of logs per day, enabling deep system visibility and fast incident response

• No Kubernetes by design — keeps focus on real business outcomes, not orchestration overhead

• PCI DSS certified, operating under financial-grade security standards and strict controls for handling sensitive data

• Deep AWS ecosystem exposure beyond core services (EC2, VPC, RDS), working with specialised and advanced AWS services and modern cloud primitives

• Extensive self-hosted systems

• Security by default: least privilege, zero-trust, and single sign-on enforced wherever technically possible to maximise system security

You’ll Own

• The design, evolution, and reliability of a multi-region payment architecture

• The performance and scalability of RDS/PostgreSQL/Aurora and OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, including sharding, partitioning, and high-load optimisation

• The delivery and adoption of a cell-based architecture

• The end-to-end automation of database upgrades and migrations

• Automated failover strategies, increasing system uptime

• The implementation of SRE practices, including Chaos Engineering, and the integration of Observability with SRE metrics across teams

• The continuous improvement of Incident Management in the company
